The gut brain connection is a bidirectional complex communication between the central nervous system (CNS) and the gastrointestinal tract. It allows for exchange of information and control of the system. In this blog, we will discover the amazing connection between

You Have you ever felt “butterflies” in your stomach? Have you ever experience “nauseous” during certain situations? These are expressions that shows the connection between the gut and brain. The stomach is highly sensitive to emotion. Anger, sadness, euphoria can trigger some symptoms in the stomach.


The stomach has a direct effect on the stomach. A troubled brain can affect the stomach, likewise a troubled stomach or intestine can affect the brain. It is therefore easier to say that a intestinal pain can be due to stress likewise anxiety or fear can cause nausea.


The gut comprising of dense network of neurons called the enteric nervous system constantly interact with the central nervous system. This “ second brain “ operate autonomously but conversely continuous with the brain.


The gut has over 100 millions of neurons, more than that of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. They release various neurotransmitters that are chemically responsible for transmitting messages to the brain. For example, the gut released serotonin that affect appetite, mood and sleep.

The gut brain connection play a crucial role in various conditions, psychological factors can influence the physiology of the gut. By understanding the connection, we are able to link between digestion, mood,health and the way we think.
